National Anthem and Gagan Harkara

When Rabindranath Tagore lived in Shilaidah and Shahjadpur in East Bengal from 1889 to 1901 for zoning work, he was accompanied by local Baul artist and songwriter Gagan Harkara (Gagan Chandra Sen). He was the postman of the post office of Shilaidah posthumously (at that time the postman was called Harkara). He was born in the village of Arpara near Shilaidah. He had a special intimacy with Rabindranath, and often used to practice rasalapa and music, but sometimes both of them used to go out on the boat.

Rabindranath was a special fond of Baul songs of Gogan and was composed by two of the songs “je tomay chare charuk” and “Amar Sonar Bangla” songs, Gagan Harkara respectively, “O Mon Aksh Maaye Bhoob Rabey” and “ami kothay Pubo Taarey” songs. Although the manuscript of the song was not found, there is a difference of opinion about the correct composition period. The song was first published in 1905 in Bangshadar and Sanjivani. Later, during the partition of Bengal in 1906, the poet himself published the poem as Sonar Bangla by singing in the poem from the anti-partition of consciousness.

Amar Sonar Bangla- the national anthem of Bangladesh

Rabindranath Tagore’s musical compilation is the first song of the country’s homeland – ‘Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami tomay valobashi’. On 3 March 1971, amar sonar Bangla was declared the national anthem in the public meeting of the independent Bangla Sangram Parishad, organized at Paltan Maidan in Dhaka. This song was first sung for the first time on the oath-taking ceremony of the independent Bangladesh government in Mujibnagar on 17 April 1971. During the liberation war, the song was regularly served from the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.

There is such an excellent description of the green and the pleasant nature of Bengal. And there is no such kind of love for the country hiding between each other. And after independence, on 13 January 1972, the first ten lines of this song were declared as national anthem of Bangladesh. The rules for performing national anthems are that the first 10 lines of the song are vocal. And the first 4 lines will be sung for singing and singing correctly.

Heart Touching National Anthem

Lastly, we can say that there is no other country in the world with such emotional and harmonious national music. And since Rabindranath Tagore has composed my Sonar Bangla song from the lyrics of Gagan Harkar, so with the favorite national music, Bengali Baul Gagan will remember the Harkas from generation to generation. He should be in our hearts as long as the favorite national music: “I love you my sonar bangla”.
